Lab Equipment 101

This is a Flask.
It is used to hold and store liquids.

As a scientist, you will be exposed to all kinds of equipment.  You should know what you're using, what it can do for you, and how to handle it.  Challenge yourself HERE to learn all about lab equipment!  When you have checked all 32 different items, leave a comment below sharing three items you have learned about today.  Include their name and purpose.  Good Luck!

Carpe Diem!

Test Tube Holders - Are obviously desighned to hold test tubes. However,it can be used to hold pipettes and stiring rods, etc. as well.

Bunsen Burner - The function of a Bunsen Burner is to heat substances. The burner can be regulated by changing the air as a gas by a mixture.

Motar and pestle - Motar and Pestles are used to grind solids into powders.

All of this equiptment is great to use during science .

Gloves:Gloves are used to protect hands. Some gloves protect against temperature extremes while others serve as a barrier against harmful substances.

Goggles:Eye protection is a priority in any science laboratory setting.

Eye Wash Station:Lab safety requires an eyewash station. The area around this station must be free of equitment for easy access.

Beaker can be heated and cooled whithout breaking this makes it brittle, bunsen burner can be regulated for heat, test tube holder can hold all sorts of stuff

Eye goggles,Eye protection is a priority in any labotory setting. Test Tube, the function of a test tube is to hold a small experiement, which would be used to conduct an investigation. The test tube is made of specialized glass so it can be heated or cooled without breaking. Thissame type of glass makes the test tube brittle and it must be handled carefully. Test Tube Holders, the test tube holder obviosly is designed to hold test tubes. however,it can be used to hold pipettes and stirringrods, etc as well.

A thermometer is used to measure the temperature of something. A glass marker is used to label glass jars because labeling in a labratory is very important. Eye goggles are used to protect the eyes from chemicals and things.

Eye goggles:Eye protection is definitley a priority in any science laboratory setting. Gloves:Gloves are used to protect hands. Did you know that some gloves can protect against temperature extremes! Som also can serve as a barrier against harmful substances! That is pretty cool.Thermometer:A thermometer is a tool for measuring temperature.

1. The use of a bunsen burner is to heat subtances. The burner can change the air and gas mixture.
2. Eye protection is a "Must Do" in any sience lab setting.
3.Lab saftey has an eyewash station. The area around this station must be free of tools for easy access.

I looked at the busen burner, it is used to warm up differnd things, like oxegen, or diffrent gases. Chemical Safety, it tells the workers what might happen if they mess pu so to those workwes out there, dont mess up!!And stereoscopes, whitch are used to look at things that are to small for the human eye and to big for a regular microscope.

Graduated cylinders: They allow you to take measursements of volume. They come in numerous sizes.
Stereoscopes:you can veiw big objects and it helps you see things that may be down deep.
Beakers: A cup like thing that holds liquid and it takes measurements of liquid volume.

1.eye wash station: if a person gets chemicals in their eyes becuase of not wearing eye goggles they will need to use the eye wash station immediately before serious damage is done to their eyes.
2.gloves: you are to wear gloves to protect your hands from svere tempetures and harmful substances.
3.pipette: little tubes that you use to transfer small amounts of any liquid from any place to the other without physical contact
