Seedfolks

Hey guys, we're about to read a great book. However, there are a few experiences we need to share before we begin the book. So, read the challenges listed below and then choose two of the five tasks to complete. Let's get started!

#1) Do you know the people in your neighborhood? Why or why not? Do you do any activities with your neighbors? Describe the people who make up your neighborhood. Write an interesting page about the people and place that you call your neighborhood.

#2) What does “community” mean to you? Create a poster illustrating what you think makes up a community. Use words, drawings, and/or cut-out pictures from magazines. Be sure to fill an 8 1/2 X 11" space. You may also choose to create using computer graphics or hand drawn art.

#3) Have you ever grown a flower a plant, a tree? Describe what you had to do to take care of it. How often did you water it? Did you fertilize it? Did you place it inside or outside? Was it in the sun or a shady space? How did it grow? Write an interesting article about the growth process of your experience OR investigate the optimal conditions for growing a plant and write a step by step plan that someone else could follow. Be sure to include graphics or a diagram of the process.

#4) Write a poem about one of the following topics: community, neighborhood, gardens, or farming. It may be written in rhyme or poetic prose. (Ask if you're not sure about these styles.) You should have at least two four-line stanzas.

#5) We live in an elaborate ecosystem - one thing affects another all throughout nature. Create a flowchart that begins with a single plant of your choice and then show at least five other changes that are a result of that plant. Think it through first - and then create a diagram that shows your thinking.

I can't wait to see how your wonder creates some great critical and creative thinking!
